The major purpose of the Society is to promote and improve the hobby of collecting tuberculosis charity seals, other (non-tuberculosis) charity seals, fund seals (not charity), and non-fund seals of the world. The Society also promotes the collection of postage and semi-postal stamps related to these areas. Many members also save related items such as covers, letterheads, promotional material, booklets, proofs, essays, newspaper and magazine advertising and other items. Please feel free to explore, and learn more about collecting seals!
The Society publishes a number of types of seal-related literature, including Green's Catalog of the Tuberculosis Seals of the World. The 2000 edition of Green's Catalog, the bible of United States Christmas Seal collecting, is now available. This new 135 page edition illustrates and prices all US Christmas Seals 1907 through 1999, including sheets, proofs, design experiments, etc. Prices have been brought up to date. Seals tied on cover by postmark have also been added. The biggest improvement is that Green's is now available on a CD, enabling
those with computers and printers (and Microsoft Word 97 or higher) to print their own color catalog; the world's first color catalog of US Christmas Seals. Keeping Green's Catalog current and making it more useful is a primary goal of the CS&CSS. Readers with suggestions for further improvements are asked to submit their ideas to the US Green's Catalog Chairman.
